Story
Sanjay (Naga Shaurya) is an undergraduate student of Anupama (Malavika Nair) at the engineering college in Vizag. They are fast friends and then move to the UK to complete their Master’s. The two are in love, and Sanjay discovers something new about Anupama. He later distances himself from Anupama. What’s the motive? Was it the same for Anupama? Did they get together? Review
The plot is fairly straightforward and the relationship among Naga Shaurya and the Malavika Nair is quite good. A few scenes featuring the main pair are fun. Naga Shaurya is a great performance and looks great on the screen. His performance is among the perfect things about the film.
Malavika Nair performed impressively. She excels in emotional scenes and is very careful with her appearance that is in line with her mood.
Abhishek Maharshi also does a great job in his character. Megha Chaudhary, and Sri Vidya were at their desirable. Background music is excellent and helps create an atmosphere that is perfect for emotional scenes between the main couple.

Srinivas Avasarala is famous for his rom-com films like Oohalu Gusagusalaade and Jyo Atchyuthananda. Beyond being a director Avasarala is a brilliant writer, known for his witty jokes humorous conversations romantic scenes and much many more. Unfortunately, PAPA misses all these aspects.
The main issue in the film is the narration. The director Srinivas Avasarala tries a different style of screenplay in the film, which causes enough confusion among the viewers. The script is presented in a way that is complex which is the reason why the film fails. The different timelines (narrated in seven chapters) make the viewer confused.
The majority of conversations are boring and test viewers patience. Furthermore, the conversations cause unneeded lag, making the film dull. The initial half of the film is packed with funny scenes, however in the second portion, the film becomes dull and contains a lot of dull scenes.
The scenes of emotion look fake and the point of conflict between the main couple appears sloppy and the final scene is dragged out abruptly. Srinivas Avasarala is trying something new technologically, since the film was made with Sync Sound. The audio quality is poor that some dialogues are a bit hard to hear.
Behind the Scenes
As director, Srinivas Avasarala has a good track record, however, as a writer his work fails to meet the expectations of his audience. For those who have admired Srinivas Avasarala’s earlier work, PAPA will be a disappointment. The mellow background score composed written by Kalyan Malik is a nice touch. The cinematography of Sunil Kumar is quite good. The filmmakers should be more attentive to the quality of sound and DI, both of which look so bleak. The film needs to include many cuts throughout both parts.
