“UI Worldwide Box Office: Upendra Starrer Set to End Below 50 Crore After 18 Days”

Upendra’s UI is nearing the end of its theatrical run, and the film’s performance at the worldwide box office has been disappointing. Despite initial expectations for a strong 2-3 week run, the film started to lose steam right after its opening week. It couldn’t capitalize on the Christmas and New Year holidays, and now it looks set to finish well below the 50-crore mark. Here’s a detailed report on its 18-day box office collection. Released on December 20, 2024, UI is a Kannada dystopian sci-fi film written and directed by Upendra. While the film was praised for its unique concept and storytelling, it struggled to attract audiences. Its complex narrative limited its appeal, and it also faced stiff competition from Kichcha Sudeep’s Max after the first few days.

The film had a strong start in India, earning 6.25 crores on its opening day, but couldn’t maintain the momentum. By the third Monday, the collections dropped to just 15 lakhs, bringing its total to 32.70 crores net after 18 days. When taxes are included, the Indian gross stands at 38.58 crores.

Overseas, UI has been a major disappointment, grossing only 2.15 crores. Combining both the Indian and international earnings, the film’s worldwide box office total is just 40.73 crores. It is now expected to finish with a lifetime total of around 45 crores.

Here’s the worldwide box office breakdown for UI:

  • India net: 32.70 crores
  • India gross: 38.58 crores
  • Overseas gross: 2.15 crores
  • Worldwide gross: 40.73 crores

The film also stars Reeshma Nanaiah, Sadhu Kokila, Murali Sharma, and others, and was produced by Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers.
